About Us

Company Profile

Abacus Residential Services Ltd is a firm of Chartered Quantity Surveyors and was founded in 2002 with our Head Office in Brentwood, Essex and Branch Office in Central London.

The Company was founded following the appointment of a specialist (Michael Morter) in providing professional services for Registered Social Landlords.

Since its incorporation, Abacus Residential Services Ltd has provided professional services for ten leading housing associations on over 2000 dwellings.

Our People

The Abacus Group's client base is genuinely pan-sector and all of our personnel work in most of these areas in any one year. We have successfully managed all the differing factors that impact uniquely upon such projects, for instance, time, resource, funding, technical feasibility, programme restriction and specialist contracts needs. The procurement strategy therefore varies enormously on each sector and this is where we add value to our residential projects.

Management Team

Since becoming a Chartered Surveyor in 1986, Michael has directly provided professional services to over twenty different Registered Social Landlords, delivering many thousands of affordable homes. As well as having management responsibility for the Residential team, Michael is very much a hands-on surveyor, running projects from inception to completion.

As founder of the Abacus Group of companies, Gary has extensive experience in working with Main Contractors and subcontractors, and an in-depth understanding of the requirements and dynamics of the construction industry.

Gary specialises in the fields of museums and exhibitions, with his first being in 1982. Other areas of his extensive experience include PFI, marine, commercial and expert witness.

Stephen has worked with over 15 Registered Social Landlords since the early 1980s on refurbishments and new build schemes. For more than 8 years he was a Technical Manager for an inner city local authority, being responsible for the capital and revenue budgets in excess of 7500 homes.
